Meet The Geddes Road Band
Paul Fitzgerald is the band's guitar player and supplies the band with a smooth but solid rythym that is as clean as it is tasteful. His playing days started back in the Navy playing at the Officers' Clubs wherever he might be stationed. He has entertained people all over the Northeast playing bluegrass and gospel music at a multitude of venues and his sense of style and charm adds a seasoning to his vocals that is uniquely his own.
Dave Shaw is the banjo player for the band. He too has an extensive music resume which began when he played in his first country band at the age of thirteen. Most of you will know of him through the Bear Bridge Band, from the Berkshires, whom Dave has continued to play with for twenty some odd years. In addition to banjo, Dave plays fiddle, guitar, mandolin and resonator guitar and he is often called upon by other bands to play any of those instruments for them.
Ken Belanger plays bass for the band. His bluegrass interests first started by watching bands such as Flatt & Scruggs on television as a child but credits local musicians and friends as his biggest musical influences. He recently added the bass to the list of instruments he enjoys to play and says that playing with this band is like having the best seat in the house. Among his favorite bass players are Lillian Fraker and Pete Soukas.
Since the passing of the band's founder, Dave Geddes, we have been extremely fortunate to have a number of our friends playing with us. They include Joe Pomerleau, Robert Fraker, Gary Darling, Dave (Tex) Orlomoski, Pete Soukas, Smokey Val and Craig Engel. It's always a joy when we get a chance to pick with them.
